Overview

Zoom's polling feature allows you to create single or multiple choice polling questions for your meetings. You will be able to launch the poll during your meeting and gather the responses from your attendees. Polls can be conducted anonymously, if you do not wish to collect participant information with the poll results.

Things to consider:

  • Only the original meeting host can edit or add polls before and during a meeting.
  • The co-host can launch the poll during the meeting.
  • If the host or co-host role is transferred to another user, that user will only be able to launch polls already created.

Creating a Poll

  1. Navigate to Zoom.us and click 'Sign-in'.
  2. Go to the Meetings page and click on your scheduled meeting.
  3. From the meeting management page, scroll to the bottom to find the Poll option. Click Add to begin creating the poll.
  4. Enter a title and your first question.
    • (Optional) Check the box to make the poll anonymous, which will keep the participant's polling information anonymous in the meeting and in the reports.
    • Select whether you want the question to be single choice(participants can only choose one answer) or multiple choice question(participants can choose multiple answers).
  5. Type in the answers to your question and click Save at the bottom.
  6. If you would like to add a new question, click Add a Question to create a new question for that particular poll.

  7. You can add more polls by repeating Step 2. You can also create a poll by clicking Polling during the meeting. This will open up your default web browser where you can add additional polls or questions.

Note: You can only create a max of 25 polls for a single meeting.

Launching a Poll

  1. Start the scheduled Zoom meeting that has polling enabled.
  2. Select the Polling option in the menu bar.
  3. Select the poll you would like to launch.
  4. Click Launch Poll.
  5. The participants in the meeting will now be prompted to answer the polling questions. The host will be able to see the results live.
  6. Once you would like to stop the poll, click End Poll.
  7. If you would like to share the results to the participants in the meeting, click Share Results.

Participants will then see the results of the polling questions.

Tips:

  • If you add multiple questions to a poll, attendees will be prompted to respond to all the questions at one time as a result, the poll results are shared at one time. Creating a separate poll per poll question will allow you focus the attention on one question and its results and then launch another
  • If you are using the polling feature for the first time, doing a test meeting with yourself and two other colleagues as a host, a co-host, and an attendee role will be useful to familiarize yourself with the feature before the call
  • Polls have about a thirty minute response time limit before they close automatically and results are shared with the attendees.
  • Hosts and co-hosts cannot vote in the polls

Poll Reports Upon Request

  • To request A .csv report of user responses are available, upon request, within 24 hours of the meeting's end. Send your request to ITHelp@isoc.org, specifying the date, time, title and name of meeting host/organizer.
