Overview:

Zoom has two types of meeting formats: The traditional Zoom call format and the Webinar format  This page compares the two meeting types. 


Note: If you would like to host a webinar or hold a meeting with more than 100 participants, either a webinar or Zoom Large Meeting Add-On license must be added to your zoom account. Please send your requests to ITHelp@isoc.org.

Webinar licenses can be purchased to support up to 10,000 participants and multiple hosts. Contact the IT Helpdesk so we can find a solution best adapted to your needs.

  • A view-only platform where the attendees cannot see each other
  • The microphone and video of attendees are disabled
  • Host and panelists cannot see the attendees
  • Hosts and panelists can use their microphone, activate their video and share their screens
  • Attendees can be promoted to Panelist - meaning they can have the same capabilities as panelists - share their screen and use their audio/video. 


  • Fully interactive in terms of the microphone and video.
  • Allows all participants the ability to see, speak, hear, and screen-share.
  • The participant list is viewable by all attendees.
  • Raise hand capability
